feed me frida

frida catch me
it seems i've fallen
lay me beside your broken column
be my sister
be my guide
my patron saint when bones collide
send me a blackbird
she'll soothe my frown
and i shall stare the curious down

frida watch me
i'll weather this storm
surgeons and pins remaking my form
our sky's grown dark
the earth it's cracked
let beauty and grace keep us intact

frida see me
im the little deer
however severe
i'll be of good cheer
be my sister
be my guide

take me where fearless painters reside
lets soar above
that broken limb
and paint our way out of the trouble we're in

frida watch me
i'll heal in the forest
let there be fusion wherever its porous
the lighting cracked
the river it rages
let beauty and grace flow onto our pages

frida feed me
just like your nurse
the love embrace
of the universe
be my sister
be my guide
we'll trust that abundance will always provide

lets sip the nectar
from our creative protector
and we'll dismiss that sorrowful spectre

frida hold me
I'm sleepy now
that's all the writing these meds will allow
it's raining tonight
i hear it falling
let beauty and grace be our highest calling

It occurred to me that phenomenon of being injured might be fascinating from the perspective of a certain nordic dog called Freya.

she,

you really
should make more
time for your painting (but you needn't feel you must break bones to do it)...

these are beautiful -- accomplished -- and a wonderful homage to frida

kudos!

we have a bohemian restaurant dedicated to Frida... her work is all over the place... I'd be afriad to eat there, though, because I don't want an eyebrow hair in my food... I kid! I've eaten there several times...

if all women wore dresses like that one at the top this world would be a better place...

heal well and fast, doggie!

now there was an amazing woman who understood injuries, pain, surgeries, being bedridden, not being able to move, more pain ...
and through this all she created amazing art.
i can see how you would relate to her.
be of good cheer, take good care of yourself ..

iamnot: its not that fun trust me. but if i could i would. good to see ya...and meant to tell ya kudos for using always your OWN photography on your mute mondays.

artfulsub: i know...i am about ready to write freya for a while..but thanks for having an interest!

/t!??!! those are frida's paintings! i wish they were mine..but i just knew i had to build a poem around those particular paintings

bogshond: thats funny! a bohemian restaurant? is it vegetarian? whats boho food? goulash?
why not a mexican...or maybe a marxist cafe. yeah you gotta look out for eyebrows and mustaches floating in your soup.

kate: no youve got it wrong. i didnt make fun. i liked it and i love to tell about it to make bloggers that didnt get to see it jealous. espcially puerileuwaite. was it everything you wanted? your birthday i mean.

foamy: exactly. when i think of her i know there is never a reason not to paint...nobody made physical pain so visceral and beautiful at the same time as she....did you see the movie? i was lovely.
i went to her house. it was fascinating.

Normally I try to avoid women sporting "columns" and mono-brows. Heck, I don't even frequent those kinds of establishments anymore. But I will accept your endorsement, and expand my mind a smidge.

"it's raining tonight

This is the prayer of an artist, and Saint...because you know they don't always go hand in hand...
But they do in your case friend- even though you will argue with me about it :)
Hugs...be well...heal-

I'll be in a CS Lewis conference this weekend at Southeastern Seminary- I wish Aunty could be with me for this event (and you too) but I know Aunty would enjoy it :)

OH Puppy thang.....ya make me blush--but I'se seein' yore good cheer in this Frida tribute. She showed the way, it seems. Ya knows I ain't no art historian, but is it sorta true that pain pulls the best art from the depths of the artist?

Mayden--yes !!I surely would, darlin'--why din't ya' alert me???

puerileuwaite: grrrherhahaha you are so funny! i adore you...i found a photo of a pug recovering in an elizabethan collar...now you are dressed to match me for our mystery date. i might photochop it. thanks for stopping by when you have so many er, uh, service calls to make. grrrherhaha

/t: i cant wait to get to my studio. just when i had momentum....blam! but thanks oh mustached one. for now i will delight in your creations

mayden: how wonderful! where is the southeastern seminary? i cant wait for your post on it. will it start friday or saturday? you are taking your computer right? thanks for coming by i wanted you to see this poem...i hadnt written one in so long! *i miss the dueling* xox

aunty: dont blush youve been so good to me. well if it must hurt then let it spill out to the canvas...when i can finally get back to it...sadly it may be weeks...i will find out in 2 weeks how long.

foamy: it has this magical quality...and she (director julie taymor of lion king on stage fame)constructs these living versions of fridas paintings that suddenly come to life...i think as an artist you will love it not just fridas story but the artful way in which it is filmed. a must see. fridas tequila fueled tango in the movie is a fun scene. rent it. and....thanks for everything.

jean: yes. i will write you about it ...for now thanks and it so good to see you again. hows the pup? nevermind im coming over.

thanks everyone i cant DO anything your visits are cherished. *sniff sniff* *K9 would never be so mushy!* grrrrherhahaha

I printed this out because it's so beautiful. The whole thing, but this:

"let beauty and grace be our highest calling"

is what I'll be thinking about today.

flap/flap/flap
tweet/tweet/tweet

i'll sing sweet
for you

bring you water
and meds
a cool cloth
for your neck and head

a funny joke
(but on no, no, no
not a toke)

i'll perch by your side
til your bones healed
amd the pain is sealed
in secret places never seen
untouchable, and scorched clean.

i'd put pen and paintbrush in your hand,
i'd hold you up if you could not stand
and then one day,
off and away
you'd rise
you'd nip
you'd chase
we'd play
our game.
the bird-dog, dog-bird game
swoop and swoosh
and bark/bark/bark
bird and dog on a lark!

flap/flap/flap
swoop and soar!
get well soon the bird croaked
evermore.

bird flying over atlanta and looking out for you - at least metaphorically.

I'm in love with Frida's painting since so long... and the persona... Wow! What a phenomenon!
I rarely express about other people poetry in foreign langage... because I don't feel efficient enough to do so... but your words touched me in a place that is rarely touched... ;-)

Thank you for gracing my place while you actually should be looking after yourself.

BTW: Romulus and Remus like it that you have chosen their mummy - or a close relative - as a model.

Take care!
